HISTORY

Inspired by farmhouse-style ales, this celebratory beer is reminiscent of a hard days work rewarded over pints. Farmhouse beers are traditionally rustic and earthy. This beer draws its roots there, but is aged for 12 months in red wine barrels, which gives the beer a deeper refined and complex profile. The barrels were given to By All Means as a housewarming gift from from Linne Calodo, a winery in Paso Robles California. They use concrete fermenters before adding their products to the barrel, which introduces minerality to the wine that also attaches to the wood. Put over flame to steam and curve the staves, the barrels also provide a toasty warmth.

FOOD PAIRINGS

This barrel-aged beer pairs nicely with a mild white fish like Branzino or Sea Bass with a punch of citrus, or try it with buttery shellfish. This is a thoughtful drink that takes its time and complements heartier items like pork chops, crispy duck, or a lamb shank. The tang of goat cheese will also work nicely with this beer, and for dessert consider the richness of a vanilla Crème Brûlée topped with caramelized sugar, which pairs nicely with the tart profiles of the beer.
